What is a pelletizing furnace pallet?
A pallet is a moving bed that carries material through a pelletizing furnace. Heat, mechanical loads and wear can deform or damage its components. Pallet inspection helps identify these changes and determine maintenance needs.
Recording inspection results
Recording the image and inspection result with the pallet identifier enables retrieval and comparison. The operator can review the image and identify cases that need technical inspection.
Inspecting grate bars and bending
Grate bars are rows of metal components forming the pallet bed. The described system assesses the gaps between these components and pallet bending. Bending results are displayed as satisfactory, intermediate or unsatisfactory; maintenance action is determined through review by the responsible technical person.
Comparing earlier inspections
Comparing images of the same pallet across inspections helps track changes in grate-bar gaps or deformation. A valid comparison depends on correct pallet identification and the quality of images and measurements.
Using records in maintenance planning
The maintenance team reviews the image, indication location and change history to prioritize cases requiring attention. Recording repair outcomes alongside inspection records makes equipment condition easier to track.
Condition monitoring and failure prediction
Condition monitoring records current signs and equipment changes. Failure prediction requires sufficient historical data and evaluation of the prediction method. An image history alone does not establish when a failure will occur.
Information needed for project assessment
The defect type, visible pallet area, furnace conditions and current inspection method need to be defined. Sample images of sound and defective pallets help assess system feasibility.
